Angela Eyck "Reflections on my journey as an artist"
“Creativity takes courage.”Henri Matisse
Starting 'art' lessons as a favour to a friend, has led me down beautiful entwined paths that I never envisioned travelling. Over the course of years my vision and growth has expanded to such proportions that I marvel at the beauty of life we encounter in all that we do. I strive to capture that beauty, as shown to me, through a variety of mediums; my favourite being painting in oils.
Striking out on my own and finding a new path to follow has been equally rewarding. I have felt myself growing as an artist and learning to see with new eyes all that is around me. I am not afraid to try and learn new things and to share these new experiences with fellow artists and friends. This only helps me grow in my abilities and as a person, strengthening my artistic endeavors. I am thankful to the various, exceptionally talented instructors and fellow artists whose talents have enabled me to become the artist I am today, and the artist I envision becoming in the future. I only hope I will gain a thimble's worth of the talent you already hold. You know who you are and I thank you for all you do and have done.
I continue to focus on my growth as an artist and independant woman. Life has taken me down unexpected paths, my marriage of 27+ years ended amid chaos and confusion. After lifting myself up from the depths of dispair I have found that due to art, the one constant in my life, I can be a strong and resilient woman. I continute to be amazed at how our life's path entwines with others and art.
New paths have emerged on my art journey of life and I have had the privilege of painting with; assisting and teaching some amazingly talented Artists as I have branched out on my own. I have also had the honour of winning a First prize at the Calgary Stampede with my painting of NOBLE.
I am especially grateful for the artists who continue to paint with me as students and friends. You honour me with your talent and wish for continued knowledge. I will do my best to continue to provide the atmosphere you thrive in. All paths entwine and I have enjoyed my connection with fellow artists at the PAINTING HOUSE; Learning from a Master Artist Andrew Kiss; as well as great enjoyment in the past by being part of charity events raising money to help the homeless through the Midlake Art Studio in Calgary. A truly heart-warming event with many talented artists! I continue to teach privately and host workshops in oil, watercolour and acrylic. Contact me if your intersted in classes. I previously have taught through the Calgary Decorative Artists; as a guest instructor at various small art studios. This has allowed me to empower my abilities as an artist.
